Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

hey all, i have been doing a mix of self teaching and the odd lesson for the past 2 years, i feel now i am stuck in a rut i know a bit of theory and this has helped me however, I need to learn chord exstensions and how to properly link it all togerther and getting it all flowing.

I’ve just signed up yesterday and this morning was ready with my notebook and I practiced lesson 5 with pitch bending. Not as easy as I thought it would have been, as I have been so used to playing bending in improvisation and with vibrato but I understand now when you say on YouTube that playing that way, you can make any note sound good! This exercise was very good and after 5 mins was much better :) thank you!

I love your approach to teaching and playing guitar, and have to give you props for an awesome teaching track record!

I went ahead and got the Solo Etudes book, and then saw the Triads book on EBay too, and figured what the heck and got it as well. I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach and integrate these materials. I was going to spend daily practice time on each, but then saw that Twinkle Twinkle is in the first 12 lessons, which makes me wonder if they're actually integrated, and I should go through Guitar Wisdom and the others will come up along the way.

FWIW, I'm having them both translated into English. Don't know if you're interested in that, but thought I'd let you know. I imagine it will take a while--I'm having them focus on Ch. 1 of Triads and up through Twinkle in Etudes first and work from there. It looks like I can probably figure out what's going on, but I'm the curious sort and had the opportunity to get it done.

Any advice you have on integrating the materials will be most welcome.

I'm really enjoying these videos Tomo, thank you. Have played guitar bit by bit for about 2 years now and seeing your videos has brought a bunch of scattered knowledge from random youtube videos together and made sense of it.

Hello! I just wanted to introduce myself and give a few thoughts. I've been playing guitar for about 30yrs, but had many years where I did not play and was not in a very good place mentally. In the past few years I have been doing much better and about 18months ago I started playing guitar again. I am quite rusty, but back in the 90s I did practice a lot. Mostly listening to Satriani and SRV (quite a contrast I know) and learning licks by ear. I did study a little theory and have the basics. I have a great feel and vibrato, but a lot of things missing in my knowledge and just being able to put it all together.

I discovered Tomo a few days ago on Youtube and I feel like we are kindred spirits. A lot of what he says, how he says it and his attitude really resonated deeply with me. Hence I decided to sign up to Guitar Wisdom.

I'm really excited for this next step in my musical journey and I am lucky I have the time to focus on music and nothing else right now. Thank you Tomo, you are a beautiful soul and even though it has been a short time, I feel a connection with you and find your teachings to help me greatly, not only musically but mentally.

Years of scattered knowledge in me. It’s all coming together now. I love his approach and I really dig his philosophy. I’m so glad I found Tomo. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Much love all the way from Hawaii.

Hello from, well, currently Rhode Island now. Seems Like I have a lot on common with everyone else who has introduced themselves, been playing for a couple decades, all by ear and have always wanted some formal lessons. I just knew clicking with someone was important and never really found anyone. I ran across some youtube videos and heard "play pentatonic sound...not pentatonic shape" and other profound moments and that pushed me to look in to this. Taking my time, really trying to make sure things are baked in before moving on and very grateful for the experiece.

Just signed up after checking out the YouTube channel and really finding myself connecting with the style of teaching Tomo is using. I have played for over 55 years with periods of setting it aside...its a life long journey. I need to connect my intuitive improvisational abilities to a better awareness and competency of theory in order to progress. Looking forward to another step on my learning journey.

So after some venturing down the endless path of you tube "top 5,guitar this and that stuff" I stumbled by a couple of Tomo's videos and i was shocked to see and hear that he was defiantly not promoting the "easy way" to play guitar but the right way and i was sold! Tomo and George thank you sooo much for sharing this approach to music through the guitar. Just finished my 1st week or so with Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom! I have play guitar for 58 years and can regurgitate other people music from notes and tabs. Tomo's approach has put me on a journey to find "my melodies". I believe that over time I had become a tense and mechanical guitarist and thanks to Tomo's easy approach, I am letting the notes and melody unfold through my ears to my fingers and to the guitar in a much more relaxed and gentle manner. I feel like I am starting over at 67, yet really enjoying the journey so far. Thanks again!

Just signed up today after stumbling across one of Tomo's videos on Youtube. I really liked his approach to playing the guitar.
I've been really enjoying playing guitar for around 20 years...but never really learnt anything in a structured manner.
So, I'm hoping to really get back to the basics and progress to a higher level using the lessons here !
