Just caught up on this thread. Some awesome stuff is being shared. I think this format of explaining what you're working on, playing, and asking for feedback is really making a difference in everyone's journey here! Thank you all
Happy weekend everybody. This is my triad practice and grinning dog , Zucca
Jeffrey, Wonderful tone. I can hear your soft touch sound when you go lower string.
Eiji
hey jeff, whoa that was a lot different that last week, movements are smooth and elegant. i agree with eiji sounded like even touch everywhere. well done man!
Bravo Jeff!
Good job Jeff! Nice dynamics! Great tone!
3rd part, you want to move your first finger a little bit more with each triad inversions.
The reverb dynamics control is really good!
Tomo
Great Jeff!
You are doing amazing job,
Thanks for updating and inspiring us to work on those details!
Better than 5 golden rings :-)
(12 days of Christmas is ON!)
Hope You, Zucca and everyone there have a fun weekend.
Kurt
Thanks a lot guys! I would like to make it much more dynamic. But I can definitely hear how volume is not changing as much as would like so that’s good progress too. My dog only stays there with front pickup. Rear one she runs away!
Clearly a jazz dog.
🤣 Linda!
if i were a jazz dog i would be allergic to myself, same sadly if i were a punk rocker cat :) doggies and kitty cats are so cool tho...i dont know how they tolerate the great apes around them.
also, jeff, that is so cool and smart that zukka helps you practice.
yesterday during the live chat, i had my supro in the eating room and sat at the table with the avrii'61 strat, and kept hearing warbling on top strings, so i increased the distance between too strings and pu's until it went it away.
practice during the rest of the day continued on mm strat (set up same way with slightly floating bridge) and main amps.
i couldn't handle the reality that supro might be more sensitive than main amps.
i want to sell the supro now lol.
i will try the avrii'61 on main amps later today. sticking with mm on main amps for foundation practice now.
apologies for so many words maaans.
i'm working on it.
but, fun to chat with you all.
Very nice, clean and smooth, Jeff. Very inspiring and excellent playing. And Zucca enjoyed it too! :) Thank you. When I first read it I thought you'd put some grinning dog pickups in your Strat :D
Hope you don't mind me asking your and others' advice on a few points.
I noticed that as you go to the lower strings you get quieter but the strums also get slower. Do you think about playing these as arpeggios or chords?
With your dynamics, which do you start off thinking loud/medium/quiet? And try to get quieter from there. Or do you mix it up as you practise, something startng loud, sometimes quiet?
Or is your idea when practising the triads to keep the same volume coming out of the amp, with your playing dynamics countering the natural difference between high and low strings?
Thanks jh. My Strat has the tf signature gd pickups! Love them. Right now I’m trying to play strings 1 2 3 and 2 3 4 as ‘normal’ and then 3 4 5 and 4 5 6 as soft as possible to make the reverb disappear. I’d like to make the low strings almost difficult to hear it’s so quiet. Not there yet
Thank you for the feedback, Jeff. Okay, now I get it about the grinning dog :D Sounds great to me! I will look forward to your next post. And I have to try that out with the reverb as a learning tool. Thanks again.
Great conversation guys! So lovely! Thank you so much!
This exercise is so deep!
Tomo
Oh I get it (triad ex) with the reverb now, also grinning dog jokes haha! I want to try those too Jeff, they sound nice!
Great observations question jh, thank you friends. Good morning everyone.
