Awesome!
When i practice R37 i have 3 gears i think of
Slow
Flow
Fast
Playing really slow or really fast is hard but finding that sweet spot (flow) where it feels more natural or comfortable
For me 40 bpm is really hard but 50
Bpm i feel i can flow a bit better and then 60bpm is really hard too. I been trying to play around with different tempos
Good stuff Rich - muting sounds great, moving your body, full speed strum even though slow tempo. Looks like you nailed all of the stuff that Tomo had given feedback on. Though I'm sure he'll have more!
Thank you Rich for posting your R 3 7 Swing Groove video. Your amp tone is so good! Your strumming distance is very good. Now it is time to play a littlr softer. Your technique is settle down very nicely. Now it’s time to do more natural way without thinkling too much details.
Hope your body can feel more swing feel. Triplet feel over all. Your muting techniqe is so good! You can practice a little slower and softr. Please keep going!
Tomo
Love to see it, Rich! What I am hearing is that you've made great progress and now you should have fun :)
Thanks Sammi - I think when I really buckle down and concentrate on every detail my playing winds up becoming a little stiff. So now I am working on still being aware but loosening up and not worrying about if I mess up.
Lovely guitar Chris! Thanks for sharing it.
It sounds good! 0:33... You need to strum much wider and you should not use your wrist movement that much.
0:37 when you switch to IV chord your strumming arm was not wide enough. Same as 0:42, 1:01, 1:10...
It is very difficult but you need to focus to move your strumming hand wide enough all the times. So please watch this video and every beat, you want to check your strumming hand movement. Especially when you change to next chord.
Your tone is good and overall good job!
Tomo
Nice work Tobi! Yes - that tone will teach you a lot.
Thank you Clay!

Thank you Tobi for sharing your video. Muting sound is really good! Good job! Slow pace is really awesome too.
Strumming distance is a little too wide. Better than narrow but you can swing your arm until the end of your guitar body so please watch my R 3 7 Swing Groove lesson video for 3-4 times so you can really get that techniques in you.
Yes. 500k is too bright. I prefer a normal 250K pot. Thank you so much for using my signature pick.
I thnk you can try a slighly faster tempo. Your muting is really good!
Tomo
Well done Tobi!
R37 is a long road, and I am still at the beginning. But I can see you are on the way!
Hope to follow.
Tomo, I have been practicing swing groove exercise at 50 bpm. Not there yet but I am finding when I slow down to diagnose problems it is sounding a lot better, and more consistent. Also beginning to notice dynamics control, a little. Many times it feels like I am juggling. It seems to be a balance of holding the pick loose enough, muting, body movement...so many things.
Excited to keep working on this.
Improving slowly.
Haha, I was actually using a Dunlop pick in the video, but I just ordered your signature Pickboy picks. I’m looking forward to how they feel and sound—probably a bit softer than the ones I’m using
Tobi
Thank you Tobi for sharing this! That's a great news! Thank you! Please enjoy!
Tomo
Another R37 post after another month of practice.
I realized I was strumming a bit hard in the beginning so I tried to strum softer as I went along.
Hopefully it’s continuing to sound better.
I feel like my PRS is so much nicer to play than my G&L Strat so I posted playing that guitar.
Much to my wife’s dismay I am now in the market for a better single coil Strat 😎
So nice and soft Rich.
Eiji
Thank you Eiji!
No noise and sounds good!
Well done Rich!
Tobi
Thank you Rich for sharing your video! I love practicing R 3 7 everyday.
Listen back this.... 4th hit was a great softness tone. Remember that sound then go softer from there. If you can strum first hit a little wider... better! Listen carefull Major 3rd on Eb7... Maybe a little clear(?) So listen deeply when you review your playing. Overall muting technique is really good!
Your softer part of this video was really great! So keep at your great work. I practice this everyday! I really want to practice this... because I can feel more comfort in my funk playing. Lighter touch. i posted a few funk rhythm guitar videos on my Instagram reels.
Tomo
Thank you for sharing your progress. Excellent work and very inspiring!
I was playing a little too fast at the beginning. Right now I’m working on controlling my strumming distance and paying more attention to muting during chord changes.
Also, Tomo’s signature picks feel really good to me. My Dunlop picks feel a bit too stiff, which makes them harder to control.
I also tried a small mod—I soldered a 500k resistor to turn a 500k volume pot into 250k, but I accidentally burned the pot So I went back to the original 250K volume pot now.
I think I’ll stop adjusting the electronics for a while—it’s a bit tiring hahaha. But through all this, especially switching back to 250k, I fixed a grounding issue by accident. Learned a lot from this process!
Thank you Tobi for using my sigmature Pickboy pick!
Nice and clean! I love that tone. Very good! Good job!
Bb7 …. please check muting and mute the 6th string too. A little angle can help.
Strumming is good. You can do a little faster on strumming (down beat)
Try to fit within 2 munutes. Keep going.
Tomo
Thank you so much, Tomo sensei, for the feedback!
For Bb7—yes, I see what you mean. I’ll work on the muting, especially the 6th string, and also pay attention to the angle.
About the strumming, I noticed something similar—when I practice around 40 bpm, I can naturally make the downbeat a bit faster. But when I go slower, it’s harder to find the right feel. I’ll keep working on that.
I’ll review the lesson and your other videos more, and also try to fit it within 2 minutes like you suggested.
Thank you again!
You're very welcome Tobi!
Even slower tempo, strumming timing should be fast! Not easy at all.
Less minutes is better for review.... because you want to watch 4-6 times (at least)
Tomo
