I realized that I am so grateful for GW's focus on technique and fundamentals as part of my journey in 2025. Until I came here, I felt lost, not knowing how to improve. Thank you all for taking me in and showing me what is important.

Agree Scott. That’s what I appreciate too learning about and then applying the right technique. I never thought and practiced so much about dynamics until this year. Chromatic scale and Holding pick soft and trying not to dig into the frets w left hand I look forward to a little bit each day. R37 swing trying to still play soft with wide strums.
Ditto to Sammi!

Special thanks to Sammi & George! They are smart! They built this place so much better!

Hi Sammi!
Thank you so much for starting this thread.
Looking back, finding Guitar Wisdom has been one of the best things that happened to me in 2026.
What feels especially meaningful is that I found this place very early on, not long after I decided to really start learning guitar.
Being encouraged by Tomo, Sammi, and so many kind and supportive members here has been incredibly inspiring.
This is a rare place where I can reflect on my playing, be honest with myself, and keep growing — not just as a guitarist, but as a person.
I truly don’t think there’s another community quite like this.
I shared a longer reflection (with a video) in my own thread, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am to be part of this journey.
Looking forward to continuing in 2026.

Man - biggest thing is gratitude for 2025. I think I joined in January, so my GW years will pretty much be the same as calendar years.
I struggled early because there is no "curriculum." But now I appreciate the flexibility to create my own journey. And never thought for a second that the forum would be a thing for me. So wrong - what an amazing asset.
The July challenge was big for me for a couple of reasons. Of course, I deeply learned C/D/G triads. But that was almost a side benefit. The "learning how to learn" part was way bigger - leveraging focus and limitations. And the challenge is actually what brought the forum alive for me - deeper learning, encouragement, etc.
From a results standpoint, there are a lot of small things I could share. But there is one cool indicator that has stricken me most. I jam with a band and we create our own music. I have done most of the writing. Of the 5 or 6 songs we have created, I haven't played a single barre chord. That wouldn't have been possible before GW. The crazy thing is, it's totally natural now - I don't even think about it - doing a 6-note phrasing just doesn't even cross my mind unless it's some big moment in the song.
GW Triad rocks - thanks to all three of you. I am so thankful and shocked at how much time Tomo spends on the forum - not just typing, but giving specific video updates based on where members are at - that is gold.
GW forum members also rock - what a foundation / safety net / kick in the ass you guys provide. Thanks so much.
Happy New Year All - have a 2026 full of learning and fulfilment!
This year i got my grade 8 in electric guitar from lcme. I also started taking sight reading seriously. I invested in two ibanez guitars one RG and the other AZ essential. The plan is to continue learning and also help others learn. Thanks
Hello GW crew,
While I've been playing guitar "off and on" for about 10 years, I've been very slow to progress. Over the last few months I have had some renewed inspiration to play and learn more, and that's where I stumbled upon Tomo's Youtube videos. Practicing triads has been fretboard-expanding, and the joy I get from learning something new has really improved all parts of my life.
I followed a link shared by Tomo to this forum and I have to admit that you all have grown something really special here. I love the support and encouragement that I see all of you sharing, so today is Day 1 of my guitar wisdom subscription.
I am not someone who usually posts to forums - I prefer to be a fly on the wall - but I wanted to share how much I appreciate the positivity, the messages of patience, and the skill and personality of the teacher here. I look forward to seeing where some hard, fun, work will take me this year.
All the best.

YES Tommy. A great thing for me are the chromatic exercises. I have also decided to post more. It is fun and most valuable.

I felt that!
Happy new year my friend.
Holidays were tough for us as well, or maybe just me. I feel grateful to just be around right now.
For next year, I think I'm going to apply for a grant to visit Esalen, or something similar to ground and recharge.
This was awesome Serena. Thanks for telling us what you learned sharing about your journey and great to hear your passion. I like at the end you said ‘I can feel the momentum of this group..” great stuff!
Thank you guys so much for posting your reflection feedback and all reading only members!
I am so glad to hear that you guys are enjoying GW community. I am really enjoy reading all the comments on all threads!
Through the November Challnge (chromatic scale exercise) and the July Challenge (Triad study) really helped us not only connect together but also we all understood about how important about “foundation” and depth of One Topic!
Love to hear that some of you learned about “Limitation” “Founadtion” some light from “Sight-Reading” so many good things to hear from you guys. Thank you so much for your passion, commitment and pure hard work! Good job guys!
Above all, I was so impressed by everyone’s great communication here at the forum. Now the world has some chaos here and there but I am hoping that we can make things all positive and make others feel good! Looking forward to your guitar journey!
Thank you so much!
Let’s keep going!
Tomo
