Cool funky muted strings trick - Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom Forums

Hi everybody!
I've noticed something really cool in Tomo's playing, I'd love to recreate that but I still don't understand who he does it. I'm speaking of that nice funky muted strings rythm he often plays (like in this video at 1:54

). Is that triplets? It feels like it but I'm not really sure. I can't figure it out and I'd appreciate it if you could help me!
