I am having a bit of trouble "breaking through" a picking speed plateau of, say, 150 bpm (8th notes)
Seems like I have some good days, and with a particular practice session, some good moments. but they are very fleeting.
The advice online seems to be 1) play very slow, which for me is boring, but doable; I get pretty good tone playing slow
or 2) play fast but unclean, and your body will catch up
Any ideas on how to proceed? I have tried different picks, strings, and guitars. same problem. And any Idea how much practice time I should expect?

Here is Tomo's reply:
"Maybe you could think about this in a different way. Play slowly, and believe that every note is great -- that what you are doing is important and effective. When you practice slowly, you will have no doubt about the quality of your playing. When you think your playing is CLEAN and PRECISE, record yourself and check your progress. If you are disappointed by what you hear, go back to the top!
"Practice with no metronome at first. Your playing should be insanely slow, so that you can get rid of all unwanted noises. Then, maybe, set your metronome to a slow beat, and practice this for a long time to improve your skills. Increase the speed, little by little. Be patient! It takes time."
