How much thought do you give in your solos or improvisation.

Lesson 7
Em C G D

All G major scale, but are you thinking of the underlying chord or just playing random phrases in G major.

I might be overthinking.....my brain is not instantaneous yet with all the notes on the fretboard. Getting much better, but it's hard me for to be quick enough to be like upcoming D chord, land on D as home during this chord change

Let me know if that makes sense and if you got any tips when improvising.
Suspect I should let go of lesson 7 and continue to move on as Tomo probably covers this more in supplemental lessons...

What stuck to me just listening to some workshop a while back was that you do have to put some thinking into it initially. It'll be slow as you work on a melody or pattern, phrasing and timing. As you practice them over and over, they become easier, then you apply it to other chord changes or scales. They become the licks you add to your repertoire that you can eventually pull in a jam session.

And from what I remember from Tim Pierce's videos can't remember how long ago, he mixes between playing chord changes (for more melodic runs) and playing scales (fast runs or to put in some outside notes here and there to make it less boring)... something to that effect.

Everything that I remember in a workshop, or online tips or lessons, etc. I try to do. Lately my focus is on major and minor triads patterns... practicing it over and over until I can play it faster and with ease.
