Hello Tomo. I first want to thank you for all the input I have received in the past from this forum. They are very helpful.
Here is my new question. I am confident with triads in the keys C, G, F, Bflat major. I continue to practice them daily. How do I evolve these exercises into creating solo lines while practicing with my looper? Can you offer specific advice on the approach I should be using? Should I be attempting to hear the triads before I play? Should I be creating a melody in my mind and attempt to play? I am unsure of what I should be doing in order to make the triads not sound boring and excerciserish. All your tips have been beneficial to me on this journey. I look forward to your response.
Thank you!
Michael
Here is Tomo's reply:
"Thanks so much for your kind words. Did you watch all the triad related videos? The basic idea is: 1) Practice rhythm guitar a lot!! 2) Be able to play/hear each triad (on Strings 1-2-3, for instance). 3) You can add something besides triads to your soloing. This part is not easy. You will need to copy solos from others, at first. I will make more videos on these topics, so you will understand them better."
Tomo,
Again, you have given me something to add to my practice that will help with my goal of being musically creative. Thank you! And I am looking forward to your videos on this topic we discussed.
I am in the process of learning SRV's intro solo and solo break in Empty Arms. Would you please suggest a solo that I should learn in the other keys you have suggested to learn?
