Curious in lesson 9 Bb Blues, if there is any rhyme or reason to the chord progression order?
I understand 1 4 5
Bb Eb F
Just didn't know if there was any reason Tomo goes over
Bb (Ascending)
Eb (Ascending)
Bb (Ascending)
Bb (Descending)
Eb (Ascending)
Eb (Descending)
Bb (Ascending)
Bb (Descending)
F (ascending)
Eb (Ascending)
Bb (Ascending)
F (Ascending)
Is this some sort of shuffle or random repeating to re-enforce learning the triads?
Your list matches the structure of a basic 12-bar blues:
I IV I I
IV IV I I
V IV I V
Tomo is playing 12-bar blues with triads rather than 7th chords. Whether the triads ascend or descend is only a matter of making an exercise sound more like music. The objectives are (1) to help you to learn triads by applying them and (2) to show that triads provide a foundation for melodic soloing in blues.
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Did you watch this video a few times? Maybe 5-6 times? This way you can control your triads over blues chord progressions. Feel free to add more combinations or apply this to different keys. If you need personal attention, please consider my Skype lessons. If interested, you can DM me through Instagram."
