Master Tomo. Hope you are well :)
I have spent many days on Lesson17- such a beautiful lesson that's helped me understand the arrangement of notes on the neck so much better, compared to my earlier approach of trying to memorize chords. Thank you.
I have one doubt. at around 11.03s where the cc says C#dim7 = A7(b9) - I was thinking if this should be C#dim6 as we are playing A# (6th note of C# major scale) and not B (b7 note in C# scale). I know this is a very small thing and may not be very important now, but it's like an small itch in my otherwise perfect understanding.
Thanks a lot!
I initially have that same question when I was reviewing the video and my immediate thought was that in order for the 7th to become dim, it would have to start from a minor. I had to do a little researching to see if it would reinforce my analysis, I did found that a diminished (or half diminished) would have a b3(min3), b5 (dim5) and b7 (min7) and a diminished 7th have b3, b5 and bb7 (dim7). In C#dim, the b7 would be B and in C#dim7 the bb7 would be Bb which is also the b9 of A.
Of course, only Tomo could really give a real clear explanation. I do like the way he engages his students by asking to figure the chord out sometimes.
Also going through this lesson - and I wonder whether there is a writeup of chord sequences etc. Can do it myself, but there shall be really something in write
