Tomo plucks all strings downward in this lesson, rather than using alternate picking. This wasn't a major part of the lesson. Is it important?
Hi Nettle,
The purpose of lesson 006 is to teach the positions and importantly the sounds of triads in root, 1st and 2nd position. In the lesson, when Tomo plays the individual notes of each triad he uses downstrokes because this is the simplest way to play each note in succession, so that you hear each note clearly in relation to the other two notes in the triad.
You could quite easily play them using alternate picking, or even just using your fingers, really it is whatever is comfortable to you.
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. It is very important to play things slowly and musically. You can choose other picking techniques, if you like, but first it is important to master the playing in this lesson by working slowly and carefully."
