Hello Tomo and everybody,
In the first blues lesson video Tomo plays the D7 chord. This should Have the following notes: D F# A C.
But he plays it in a way that there is no A (fifth).
Can a chord not have all its notes?
Thank you so much Tomo!
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. D7 can be a full chord or small chord. Each lesson here has its own direction, so it’s not so much about what’s right or wrong. In this lesson, D7 is a 3-note chord -- Root, 3rd, 7th. Please watch other chord/harmony lessons and blues demos here. I play Root, 3rd, 7th chords in several other videos."
Of course a chord doesn't have to have all of its notes! Try ommitting the 5th in a chord for a more badass sound. Omar from Mars Volta and At the Drive in Does that alot
