Hell there everyone.

This is a question about TF Lesson 004-2 Ear Training, Part 1.

Are we mainly trying to hear the difference in pitch between the Lowest note and the Highest note in the chord?

Listening for all of the notes and intervals in a chord seems really challenging.

Another question related to this: Is the root always the lowest note, on the lowest string struck? Perhaps this is only true for open chords?

I am just trying to figure all of this out for the first time, I have never been taught guitar lessons this way before. I hope my question is clear enough for someone to give me an answer.

Just realized to just play the chords more slowly and just keep listening and practicing. Any input still appreciated though.

No, the root is not always the lowest note you'll find 1st of all Tomo would probably day DON'T WORRY and you'll find that which even inversion it starts with on the top strings is the same inversion you end up with on the bottom strings example if you start with a 2nd inversion like say how the D major Triad starts with a 2nd on the top and you end up with a 2nd inversion on the bottom by the way a 2nd inversion has the 5th as the lowest note the route in the middle and the 3rd on the bottom So , Do ,Me 1st inversions have the 3rd for the lowest note then the 5th then the route for the top or highest pitch Me , So, Do ONLY THE ROUTE POSITION TRIAD HAS THE ROUTE AS THE LOWEST NOTE Do , Me , So rt.. 3rd , 5th I hope this helps you !!!

I think these ear training lessons are the most important lessons on here though so advice go very slowly and listen very carefully to what Tomo says in Learning the fretboard and ear training he says YOU HAVE TO PROVIDE THIS PART ,HE IS BASICALLY SAYING NOBODY CAN DO THE WORK FOR YOU !!! HE IS TRULY TRYING TO TEACH US HOW TO PLAY BY EAR BY LISTENING AND USING THE C MAJOR SCALE AND GOINGVERY VERY SLOWLY AND LISTENING TO EVERY SINGLE NOTE THEN MAKING 3 NOTE COMBINATIONS THEN 6 NOTE COMBINATIONS THEN WHEN YOU CAN SING AND PLAY ANYWHERE USING ALL DIFFERENT C ROUTES THEN YOU CHANGE KEYS ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS INFORMATION!!!

OH AND SINGING ALONG IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL HOPE THIS HELPS MY FRIEND GOOD LUCK !!

How much time should be devoted to ear training in your practice routine?
