Hello I’m just wondering is there a video that explains on how to best learn the major scale in all keys for the most practical use? I just don’t want to learn a bunch of patterns or positions and have to rely on those for my major scale. I Want to know if there is a more practical approach to learning the major skills and all keys and again I don’t want to have to rely on a bunch of patterns that leave you Boxed into a certain position. Thanks!
How to best learn the major scales in all keys?
Watch the ear training videos on learning the C major scale very slowly thinking of every note and singing along start in 3 note COMBINATIONS then go to 6 note combos then when you can sing anywhere and play anywhere change keys this is how Tomo relearned the fretboard make sure you go very slowly and think of every note AND SING ALONG
That sounds great! Thank you for this, I was just wanting to make Because I thought there was going to be a similar video like the C-major scale video expanding on how to learn the scale in all keys or something. Looks like I’ve got a lot of work to do, thanks again!
Also think of the intervals it goes W ,W ,H ,W, W ,W ,H which is 2 whole steps one 1/2 step then 3 whole steps one 1/2 step . THIS IS THE RECIPE TO BUILD A MAJOR SCALE
Think of every degree Do= route , Ra = major 2nd , Me =major 3rd , Fa =perfect 4th , Sol =perfect 5th , La= minor 6th ,Ti = major 7th and Do= Octive
I hope this helps it's a long road goodluck my friend
Yes I agree, I pretty much internalize the video on the C-major scale already! I can sing all the intervals and for the most part I can tell the root the major third and the major 5th and the major 7 apart when I’m strumming a cord. I can sing the correct pitch now After watching the video. Since I am now comfortable playing the C-major scale all around the fretboard and being able to sing the pitch and being able to tell which interval I’m playing I guess it’s now time to move onto a different key. Thanks again!
Your very welcome I have been doing the same thing and still haven't switched keys because I am also trying to learn all of the notes ( while I am playing them ) it takes a while so go slow there is no hurry !!
I've been on C for two weeks and I don't want to rely on the patterns and shapes ( that I already know) like you said ,I'm trying to truly listen and truly learn to play by ear as well as knowing all of the notes I am playing and the degree once you learn all the major triads the whole neck will truly open up for you !! But take your time like Tomo says we should work on these triads like we would on our personalities very slowly and carefully
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. Continue to focus on ear training and triads. Both are very helpful."
