Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

I have 2 questions:

So in minute 0:31 Tomo does 5-6-R-M3, I can understand that, but then at 1:14 he plays the same 4 notes, only changing the bend from a 1 step bend to a 1/2 step bend and then calls it a 9-M3-5-b7??? How did this happen?

In minute 8:10, there's a I-IV-I-I in the creeen, but I don't really see the correlation between that and what Tomo is playing. He is plating the same thing from the start, which is a 5-6-R-M3.... Not a R-4-R-R. I know the I and IV mean that those are different chords, but I just don't see them. Yeah, and the lesson stops making sense from here.

I think he is saying what you can play over the 4 chord and if he is playing in D the 4 chord is G so he is probably playing 9 , M3 -5-b7 over the The G and if you watch the Videos where he shows you the 7th chord inversions 1st then this will probably make more sense to you ??

Great questions! 1) Phrase 5-6-R-M3 is for the I chord which is D7. 2) Similar phrase with 1/2 bend is for the IV chord which is G7: 9 - M3 - 5th - b7 is for G7. This is where you are still thinking in D7! 3) I - IV - I - I is a chord progression. Here, it means D7 G7 D7 D7.
