It seems that at 7:38 Tomo plays a FMaj7 arpeggio
I am going to add this to my list of devices
The notes of the FMaj7 arpeggio (FACE)
over E are the following degrees
(E) F (F is b9 of E), A (A is 4 of E), C (C is b13 of E), E (E is root of E)
The extended FMaj7 arpeggio includes the 6th degree of F, which is D.
So adding D to the run, you get
(E) D (D is the b7 of E)
This is a cool device
In practice, I would say, over a dominant 7th chord, play a major 7th arpeggio one half step above the root.
I don't know if it works over every dominant 7th chord (probably not), but it probably at least works over every dominant 7th chord where the mixolydian b9 b13 chord is appropriate (resolving to the minor i chord (?))
Nice observation. Will try this out!
