Many people I know play songs they are training themselves how to play. This was me. I know a bunch of songs and can play above the novice level even though my knowledge is new born. Example I knew the fifth fret 1 put me in the key of A but I had no idea that a degree was a simple rotations of how to play each scale when combining two chords. I used to do a double stop hammer trill to resolve switching keys and letting opportunity pass me bye. Never again................
That went over my head- was it a question? What do you mean by a degree is a simple rotation of scales- and two chords? Curious to understand- can you share an example?

"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. In my private lessons, I spend more time correcting bad habits than teaching new material. Here, you can focus on fundamentals like fingering, picking, triads, and practicing R 3 7 swing grooves. For my students, learning degrees and intervals is the best way to understand chords, harmony, scales, and even phrasing."
