Hello. I signed up this week and I'm working thru Foundation & Technique I lessons. I'm saying notes out loud like Tomo says to for C maj scale and I'm having trouble with that. Is it normal to say the wrong note at first as you go? I'm always saying la instead of so on the 5th or mi instead of ti on the 7th. Sometimes even mi and fa get mixed up. Or I'll say something like ti-fa-re when I play ti-do-re. Decending I'll say re-do-ti-la-fa or do-ta-la-so-re-mi. I play the right note I just say the wrong thing. Advice?
Welcome. It will take time. Anything new will take time. Take it slowly and it will come together. You want to practice the correct notes/names so you learn them correctly. Slowly. Don't expect too much too fast. And don't worry.
agreed with michael. if you haven't yet, check out the lesson on having a notebook beside you - it might help for you to write it down so that you can see it visually... then take it day by day. it will come :)
took me a few months to get it right. everybody learns at their own pace. i know others who got it in a week, but they probably had a teacher that made it mandatory to learn it (so they had to learn fast).
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. We all make mistakes! Don’t worry about that! If you are struggling, stop and go back to the beginning. Learn more about intervals. Slow down. Sing and play the scale many more times, so that you will be familiar with the notes."
