Totally confusing???
One of my favorite lessons on the site..... Go back to lesson 26 and make sure you understand the progression he is playing over. Bb jazz blues. In The beginning of lesson 29 he is following the chords. I transcribed the beginning note for note then played it over the progression on a loop petal to see where each triad fits in. I'm not a teacher but I think the idea is he is playing the "correct" triads and arpeggios over each chord/ connecting them with a chromatic note here and there. You've got to have Bb jazz blues chords under your fingers and in your ear before you can start playing over it. If lesson 26 doesn't help. YouTube "Bb jazz blues comping" "Bb jazz blues soloing" and there are a ton of useful videos that can help you follow. Tomo also plays jazz blues in other videos where he gets a bit more advanced. I cant begin to correctly describe exactly what he does in some of the other videos, but its the same idea just more sophisticated.
Thanks! Appreciate you! Peace! 🎶
Gabe is spot on. This lesson requires solid knowledge of what’s going on in the Bb jazz blues progression. In my view, the point of lesson 29 is to analyse and understand the sound of the degree of every note of the etude in relation to the chord it is played over.
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. When a lesson is confusing, all you need to do is to go back a few steps and study what you did not learn in earlier lessons! And don't forget to use the SEARCH function on this site."
