Hi,
Just wondering if anyone would be able to provide me with some guidance.
I've recently attained a looper pedal to help me practice. I am currently trying to work on following chords while improvising.
Let's say I'm following a I-IV-V blues progression, using R 3 7 chords.
I have been trying to use triad notes to follow the chord changes, which works well, however I feel I don't fully understand how to extend upon the triads.
For example, Let's say the backing track I create is in the key of C (C-F-G progression)
When improvising should I be playing notes mainly in the key of C and then emphasising the notes of the chord changes or when the chord changes should I be selecting notes as if I am in the key of F or G.
My gut feeling is that I should be playing the notes of C and emphasising notes around the chord change.
Any clarification or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
