Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

I am enjoying Guitar Wisdom very much and first of all would like to thank Tomo and the community for the opportunity to learn and ask questions.
I have just received my Modern Method For Guitar book yesterday and I am beginning the lessons this morning. As I progress through this book would it be helpful to use a metronome with the sight reading lessons, or is it ok to just practice mentally keeping time with the exercises and lessons/

Tomo seems to not be using a metronome in his videos. Perhaps I should apply my metronome practice separately and keep my Sight Reading practice in the exact way Tomo does it.

I am asking because it would create that discipline to follow the types on notes on the staff more closely.

Quick update after practicing with the book. This is tough to discipline myself and not fall into playing the patterns that are easy to memorize. Really felt difficult to take my time with just the first few exercises and playing half notes. I can tell by the awkward feeling that I am making my brain work in new ways by trying to read the staff. I did not bother with the metronome but I may use it in the future, would still like to hear any input on that.

This is really cool allowing me to see the notes inside the chords/triads and also to see the chords inside the scales in a new way. For so long I knew patterns and chord shapes or where to put my fingers while being disconnected from the notes. Also that reading from a staff is totally new for me and is also the greatest struggle for me here.
