Hello Mr. Fujita,
I have been thoroughly enjoying all of your blues lessons and would like to immensely thank you and your team for putting this content together. I had trouble 'getting out of the pentatonic minor box' before joining guitar wisdom but your blues lessons have already made major changes to my soloing by following chord tones and I am very happy that my playing already sounds a lot more musical. I have been studying your lessons 'TF Lesson 014-1 4-Note Chords in Blues', 'TF Lesson 016 A Blues Soloing Over Chord Changes', 'TF Lesson 018 Bb Blues Soloing', 'TF Lesson 019 Simple Blues Phrasing'. I have already picked up a lot of phrases and learned how to play them all over the fretboard by using the degrees of the chord tones & major scale that they use along with using the leading tones (b7 & M3) in between soloing to make it all gel together.
Somehow I now feel myself playing similar if not the same phrases just in different positions of the neck now over the 1-4-5 chord changes once I have run through all the phrases I have learned. My question would be how to go further with the blues so that I can have more interesting/different/complex phrases. Should I start learning some jazz blues to learn more possible variations between the usual 1-4-5 chords to progress in my phrasing or just try adding more chromaticism to phrases I am already familiar with (Just trying make sure I learn as much as I can about regular blues before moving on to jazz blues)? I am eager to learn further about how to keep a listener engaged for a longer period of time with more variations in phrasing and make my phrasing a bit more complex.
Very grateful to you and your team for your content. I appreciate the time, effort and resources you have put into the guitar wisdom platform. Sorry for the long thread and question, some times putting musical questions into text can be a bit difficult, I am excited for your insight and eager to hear your response.
Than you very much,
Ishan Sen
