Theory 13, diatonic 7th chords
I cannot see the fingerings in this video, so to prevent engraining bad habits with the wrong fingerings, I'd like to tell you what I am doing and ask you to correct any potential problems.
First of all, I am fine with the fingerings for the 5th string rooted chords, it is the 6th string rooted chords that I am not sure of, and all my questions will refer to a G chord at the 3rd fret.
Maj7 chord
fingers 3, 4, 2 on strings 4, 3, 2, with index on 6th also muting 5th string
min7 chord
Several options here.
1. fingers 2, 2,3 (2 barres strings 4 and 3), with index on 6th muting 5th.
2. fingers 2, 3, 4, with index in bass.
3. 4th finger barres top strings with second finger in bass.
option 1 seems best because it is an easy transition to the Dom7 chord.
Dom7 chord.
fingers 2, 4, 3 on strings 4, 3, 2, with index in bass.
min7 flat5 chord.
2 options here.
1. just like Maj7 fingering 3, 4, 2 with index in bass, a real stretch for the index finger.
2. fingers 3, 4, 1 with finger 2 in bass, I like this one best.
I hope my fingerings are clear and especially that you can correct any deviations from the fingerings you show in the Theory 13 video.
Thanks,
