Hello. I've been playing guitar for a while but my strumming timing is not very good.

I've been practicing strumming with a metronome but my recordings don't sound like music/rythmic/pleasing. It sounds like I'm calculating the next beats in a bad way and doesn't have a natural flow. I usually anticipate the beat and play before the metronome click -especially when accompanying other instruments. Any suggestions for exercise or things to consider when strumming.

"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. First of all -- good job! I know you are working hard! For good strumming technique, it’s important to be able to control subdivisions (of beats). So, in the beginning, there is no need to use a metronome. Please wait until you can play simple strumming.

"Maybe you could work on two strumming exercises:
1) All down beats with down strokes. Count: One Two Three Four. Move your body with the tempo.
2) Strum 8th notes. Lightly. One &, Two &, Three &, Four &. Count clearly and move your body!

I'm more of an intermediate player trying to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. So my subdivisions are good. I understand accents and muting. Are there more advanced exercises I could do to train my sense of rhythm so that I can play more accurately? are There Exercises for the intermediate to the advanced player?
