Hello, I cannot see the video but when you say the scale degrees of a triad or chord or scale I can understand what you are playing and this helps a great deal. I have two questions about this lesson.
1) 1, 4, 5 minor triads.
It sounds like you are staying on strings 4, 3, 2 mostly. are the 1, 4, 5minor triads on strings 5, 4, 3 also useful and popular? they sound good also - do they have their uses in blues rhythm playing and should I also concentrate on learning them?
2) hybrid picking, pick plus fingers.
This is a relatively new technique to me, but I really like it because it lets me be far more accurate and clean when playing triads. I don't see your hand, but I have found it easiest to hold the pick with thumb and index, while playing the upper two strings of the triad with fingers 2 and 3. Is this how you are doing it? or are you playing two strings with the pick and one string with one finger only?
Thanks Tomo, I absolutely love this lesson. more like this please.
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for two great questions! About the 1 4 5m triads: that was just an example on Strings 2 3 4. If we play these triads on Strings 1 2 3, they will sound like a chord melody.
"Whenever you are curious about something you hear, explore it! Work with it, and you will become a better player.
"About picking and finger picking: there are, basically, no rules! Mix them any way you like! I like to use my pick and my finger for playing two notes. Your choice depends on the speed and the tone you are looking for."
