First of all I really enjoy this course and I love it so far! right now I am at lesson 41 which is Kyoto song which has a beautiful chord progression. one thing I don't get is. after Ebmaj7 (bIII) there comes a A13 to Abmaj7 (bVI) . What is the A13 doing there , does it resolve to the Abmaj7? It kind of has the same tension as the D9 chord which was the sub chord from G7 so is the A13 a sub chord from Eb7 which resolves to abmaj7?
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thank you so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. My song KYOTO is in the key of C minor. The relative Major is Eb. The B section is partially in the key of Eb Major. AbMaj7 is the IV chord in the key of Eb. A7 is a sub V for Eb7, which is the V7 of IV. That’s typical jazz harmonization. I will show you more about this in the Music Theory II (Applied Theory) section."
