Hi Tomo. I hope you're well. I own a Boss GT-1000 multi-effects unit which I plug into the effects return a solid state analog amp to play (Boss Nextone).

However, I wanted to upgrade to a valve amp. I love SRV, Hendrix, Frusciante and John Mayer style. I mostly play clean to crunchy. I am keen on using my Boss GT-1000 for effects instead of spending more money on pedals.

Do I need an effects loop? Which amp do you recommend (used or new), not exceeding US$4000? Note that I only play at home but can buy an attenuator.

"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. In order to get a tone like SRV or Jimi Hendrix, use a low-gain overdrive setting, and add more volume. Multi-effect pedals are useful, but be careful not use too many effects at the same time! And don't use compression with overdrive! I think you need a tube amp. I recommend that you check out Milkman amps."
