Hi, do you have a copy of A MODERN METHOD FOR GUITAR by William Leavitt? Tomo recommends it under the Sight Reading section, and there is a lot of theory in there. Notes, harmony, melody, rhythm, chords, key signatures, intervals and more. It's not all explained like a course in music theory though, but more a matter of working through the material. My two cents...
Hi Brian,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I do have the Modern Method book but was interested to know what theory book Tomo would recommend to his students (private students or students from Berklee).
I have just started viewing the video theory lessons on Guitar Wisdom but would like to have written material to refer to when I need clarification. I have a theory notes from another teacher but if Tomo could recommend a book, he thinks would complement his videos that would be great. I find this suits my learning style best.
Regards,
Steve
Hi Steve, that all sounds good. I just wanted to make sure you knew about the book and I look forward to hearing about any recommendations you get for a music theory reference. Happy playing! Brian
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. I studied harmony and ear training at Berklee. I don't have a book to recommend. You need to know key signatures, basic diatonic triads and 7th chords. In my opinion, if you understand intervals, you don't really need a book."
I get it now...
