An exceptional player I admire once said this to me and it really stuck. Have you ever considered doing any videos on reducing tension while playing or targeted videos specifically on muting/challenging chord voicing? I’m a new subscriber so please feel free to direct me to existing videos. I’m loving the latest lesson on the gospel progression….though I really struggle with the muting on the diminished and augmented chords! Doing my best to take it slow. Thank you!
I’d also be curious if you’ve ever personally dealt with any musicians injuries and if you have any type of physical warmup or exercises away from the instrument that you recommend to students. Thank you again for the WISDOM you share!!!
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. I recommend that you try these:
"(1) Practice the chromatic scale on only the 4th & 3rd strings, from the 5th fret to the 9th fret. Play very slowly and try to play more and more softly, to reduce your left-hand pressure.
"(2) Practice a Root 3rd 7th Swing Groove -- Bb blues and F blues. Practice them at a slow tempo. Play softly and use less left-hand pressure.
"To get the most from these practice exercises, turn your amp volume up a little. Guitar volume should be 7 - 8. Guitar tone should be a full 10."
Thank you so much for this guidance Tomo! The chromatic exercise has been excellent in helping me attend to my string pressure and being aware of keeping the fingers relaxed (not stretched apart too wide holding tension). I am really enjoying the blues metronome work as well. I feel so blessed to have found Guitar Wisdom!
