Hi Tomo,
Have you ever considered doing video specifically on the palm muting / muting technique? It seems to be an area where a lot of people struggle.
I have read all the suggestions from previous postings and am working my way through the Leavitt book and videos but I still feel like I’m missing something and being inconsistent with how I’m muting.
I do realize the challenges here with camera angles etc. and to a degree it may be personal (?) but again I feel like I’m missing something. I seem to be more successful with muting the lower strings with the meat of my thumb but less with the upper (3,2,1) strings with the side of my pinky / outer hand. From what I’ve seen in the videos it looks to be a combination of direct dampening moving towards the instrument t and a rotation of the forearm externally to raise the picking unit (thumb/index) and resting the outer part of the hand on the strings.
Did I mention this is also a challenge to put into words too?!?! LOL. As always thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Please learn " Sight-Reading " section using Berklee Guitar Method Volume One.
This book can really help you how to use your palm muting & your left hand mute on unwanted strings,
Especially some of etudes in the beginning of this book, I taught John Mayer! So he really understood about clean muting technique from this book.
Thank you!
