Hi Tomo! Thank you so much for these amazing lessons. I had a question about lesson AT13 regarding double stops: why are they called 3rd, 6th, and 4th fills? For example, the 6th fills don't have a M6 note in them, so I get a little confused, but maybe this was covered in a prior lesson. Appreciate your help!
A "6th fill" will not contain the 6th degree of the underlying scale, if you start on a scale degree other than the root, but it contains the interval of a 6th between the two notes.
The 3rd 6th and 4th names simply identify the interval between two notes if you imagine the low note as the root. Depending on what scale or mode you use to count up to the next note you may get a minor or raised interval m3 m6 #4, etc.
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. The name of each fill comes from the interval between the two notes in the fill. So, in a 3rd fill, for example, the interval between the two notes is a (Major or minor) third."
