TF & GM,
I quite enjoyed the lesson FT38. (BL17) E Blues Turnarounds. I've been using one of those demonstrated as my "go-to" turnaround for a long long time now. I'm definitely going to add the one by Lightning Hopkins into my bag of tricks and listen to more of him.
I was wondering if you could add more turnaround examples. I know turnarounds should be "signature" variations that reflect the style of the individual player, but I feel a few more examples could help us develop the tools to customize them for our own uses.
I know I hear some players use a "pedal tone" while another note moves. I am also sure I've heard some that use contrary motion, where the bass notes go up and the treble notes go down. I stumble across them by accident sometimes and would like to know if there's any guiding principles to creating a good turnaround.
I've poked around the table of contents, but didn't see any other turnaround-specific lessons.
