Dear Tomo,
I’m writing to see if you had ever considered doing a lesson that would contain video of your thumb placement on the back of the neck. In many of the videos I’ve watched, you comment on the importance its placement and describe it, but as they say a picture is worth a thousand words.
I really began to focus on this from your triad review video where you mention adjusting the position vertically as you move through the three string groupings. I had never really honed in on this before and found it a source of tension due to lack of attention. I found I was unconsciously using more of a fixed placement approach.
I found your chromatic exercise EXTREMELY helpful in reducing left hand tension tension by focusing on maintaining the same horizontal plane on the back of the neck. I feel that seeing your approach with the triads would have a similar benefit and also help demonstrate the movement of the thumb out to the side of the finger as one moves up the neck.
I hope I’ve made sense here! No one covers this and it’s such a critical piece of left hand technique.
Thank you!
