On the top four strings, with intervals route, five, flat seven, flat three, with the flat three on top, there seems to be two ways to finger this cord. I don’t have the advantage of seeing Tomo’s hands in the videos, and I have been using the pad of the middle finger to bar the two top strings. Another way is to use the middle and ring on the top two strings and both ways seem to have certain advantages. I will most likely use these two fingerings interchangeably, but I am wondering what is the preferred method or in other words what fingering is tomo showing.

I can see he uses individual fingers for the minor 3 on the first string. I think of that one as a Root 4, and at ~4:06, Tomo demonstrates A-7 Root 4 using individual fingers, no bar for the first two strings. He's using his ring finger on the first string.
I tried barring those two strings also, but found that way to make it more difficult. You should probably use what works best for you though.
Hello John, it’s funny, I called the inversions by the string that the root is on to. Really helps to keep things organized. But I’m also keeping in mind what interval degree is on the top string like tomo suggests. Also incredibly useful. It’s these little visual cues that I miss but knowing the intervals really eliminates the need for vision. If I hear what string the root or some other degree is on I have a pretty good clue as to what’s going on. Thanks for the help.
