Hi guitarists!

I have completed the triads series and I have practiced C, F, Bb, Eb, up and down the neck, also I have been practicing 1, 4, 5, chord progression in the key of C, F, Bb, Eb, also.

However, I am struggling to see how all of these triads are connected together and create meaningful melodies on it. Is this because I'm still not familiar enough with the triads or is there a better way to see the interconnections between triads?

I'm not sure if this is what you are referring to, but it sounds like you might benefit from the theory lessons to learn which triads work well together in different keys. For example, in the key of C we can have I IV vi V using C F Am G to create a common chord progression.

In my opinion, learning the CAGED system is the best way to see how everything is connected. Every Triad is a small chunk of that big chord shape. Furthermore, each inversion relates directly to its respective position. Once you start seeing that relationship, it will become much easier. The key is seeing the triads on the fretboard.

I agree with Zach. It helps to know the CAGED system and be able to play a major chord in the five forms. Because I am familiar with it, the triads made more sense because you would already know the three notes being played. The important thing is to understand the inversions involved in what Tomo is teaching on the triads. That is what I focus on when he is showing the different triads. When something he shows makes sense to you, it's a good feeling.

I Couldn’t agree more with what Zack and Horacio said. I Donely add that don’t limit yourself to only major chords minor diminished augmented as well. The caged system is an incredible tool for stitching the whole neck together in your mind.

I think he is against it only because it is limiting. If you just learn shapes then you are "in a cage" and then you only play in the shapes. If you learn triads and then arpeggios you will see everything connect eventually.
