Hi all,
I have been working on the sight reading series for about a week now and have a few questions about how to best practice sight reading. In the video, Tomo recommends that we practice the piece, and then record ourselves playing it. My issue with this is that when I practice one piece over and over until I play it to my liking, with no noise and perfectly on time, then I end up memorizing the piece instead of sight-reading it. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to overcome this issue, or if it is ok that I end up memorizing the piece? I feel like it wouldn't be ok to memorize it because my goal is not to learn the piece itself but to learn how to sight-read using the piece. Or should I try to learn the piece?
Thank You,
