I try already more than 40 years to play the guitar.
I will stop now because it's always the same problem.
When I try to play simple chords like G7 , it's impossible to do, my fingers can't reached the first E string together with the A and E strings
Can anybody help?

Try to place one finger at once and get help from the other hand to push the finger on the fingerboard. Remember not a lot of pressure is requested

I would suggest that you go straight to the foundation triad section and work in those lessons. They are the heart of all chords on the guitar and stretching won’t be a problem as the three notes are all on adjacent strings. It really is the place to start for learning chords and getting your hand in shape. Don’t give up until you’ve given triads a fair trial.

Hi Philip, thanks for the info.
It's not really a problem with stretching but my index finger is odd shaped, not really straight and that makes it extra difficult to play even the simpliest chords.
But I will try.

I know what you mean Marc, I had a broken left hand which left some deformities in the index and pinky and it’s always been a problem for me with instruments that I have played. And don’t forget, Django Reinhardt only had two fingers on his left hand and look where they took him. It is doable. However the hand is remarkably resilient and will reshape itself to meet the task at hand. Of course, that takes some time and persistent effort. Regardless though, triads are still the very basis of chords and you won’t go wrong spending lots of time studying them. At least that’s what I have found.
