Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

Hi fellow guitarists,

So I’m on etude no2, which is page 22 and 23 and that took me 3 months to get there, because for each exercise, I’ll try my best to perfect it and some day I do great and some days I don’t, am I going too slow? I feel like I need to focus more on progression more than perfection because all my ear training, fretboard knowledge and fingering techniques cannot be fully utilized (therefore commit to memory) and feeling I’m hitting a plateau, have you guys encountered the same experience?

I haven't watched any of the sight reading videos here so maybe he recommends differently there but the introduction to the book specifically mentions that you should not attempt to perfect an exercise before moving on.

From the introduction:

"Practice all material slowly enough to maintain an even tempo. Do not skip or "slight" anything, and also do not attempt to "completely perfect" any one lesson before going on. Playing technique is an accumulative process and you will find each time you review material already studied it will seem easier to play."
