hi ,tomo , I got a question ,in lesson Theory 19 Mixolydian b9 b13, the time 5:28 6:30 8:35 shows D minor A minor D minor , is the minor b3 b6 b7 or harmolic minor b3 b6 ? I'm confused , thank you !
Here is Tomo's reply:
"Thank you for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. This lesson is all about Mixolydian b9 b13. First, remember that (b9) = (b2), and (b13) = (b6). Next, consider the C Harmonic minor (b3 b6) scale: C D Eb F G Ab B C. Start with the 5th degree of the C Harmonic minor scale for a Mixolydian b9 b13 scale: G Ab B C D Eb F G."
Thank you so much!
Yes. It's a little confusing.
In general, it's in minor key. Like Blue Bossa or Autumn Leaves.
Especially iim7(b5) to V7 to Im7
C Harmonic minor : C D Eb F G Ab B C = R M2 b3 4 5 b6 M7 R
Then V7 of C-7 is G... G Ab B C D Eb F G = R b9 M3 4 5 b13 b7 R
We call Major 6th interval for Major7 chord.
We call minor 6th or b6 for minor chord.
Same note but we call b13 for Dom7
