Theory 02 G Major F Major

Hi,

I want to ask a question about Theory 02. What is the reason behind the imoprtance to know "which notes" are flat or sharp in all different keys?

I always thought it is enough since we just "shift" the key to different roots so we can know all the notes correctly in each key. Is it important to "memorize" all the flat or sharp notes by heart? Why?

Thanks for sharing.

Once you know about scale degree, Do Re Mi, name of each notes... then so easy to change key if you need.

C Major Scale: C D EF G A BC (R M2 M34 5 M6 M7R)

So G Major Scale: G A BC D E F#G ... You need change F to F# in order to get Major 7th interval.

Then F Major scale: F G ABb C D EF ... You need to change B to Bb in order to make 4th interval.

No memorization required.
You can learn all slowly so you don't need to memorize them.

You can learn sharp key from G...
You can learn flat key from F...

Ha, thank you for the answer! I am still trying to memorize all the triad so still long way to go :) I think I will find why later on as I start feeling that it will be faster for me to find all the notes in the key on the guitar sooner. Look forward if you make a supplemental YouTube lesson.

In a way, this topic is not so difficult at all.

Triads, scales... learn them super slowly and not so much.

I have a follow+up question. I start to practice what "notes" are threr in a specific key. But at the same time, I forget to practice what "degrees" each note have for each other. Which way should I practice or both at the same time?

Great question!

Good job!

Okay. When you study scales or triads.
3 things you need to think while you are practicing.

1) Name of notes. C E G
2) Intervals. R M3 5
3) Singing. Do Mi So (Ear Training)

This way you are not just memorizing what frets to play.
That's why learning easy YouTube lessons with tabs .... not so great!
