I'm just making sure that I'm going about this correctly. So I should start on C Major triads on 123 strings then work C on 234 345 etc.? I was just watching in the same video and he moves from C to D on the 123 strings. I figured it would be best to master C before worrying about D. Also on the foundations video he teaches C starting on 543. But on a few of the free lessons on youtube he starts out on 123. Just curious If it matters?
I would say, really focus on scale degrees involved. You are always playing the same scale degrees in relation to chosen R note (or 1 note if you prefer). We need to learn on multiple stringsets since G B pair is tuned differently to other adjacent pairs. If you dont mind me suggesting. Write all notes of C major scale (note names) on a full fretboard diagram. Then on another one for every C write 1 or R, for every D write 2, for every E write 3 and so on... Then, take a long careful look at what you got and circle all numbers 1 3 and 5.

I love reading comments on the forum.
Less is more!
Less is better.
So when you study triads on 123 set strings.
You need to prepared learning C Major scale on each string.
This case E string : EF G A BC D E (up to 12th fret)
B String: BC D EF G A B
G String: G A BC D EF G
So you can pay attention a 1/2 step (B&C, E&F)
Think these names &
Do Re Mi.. and Intervals.
So you need to think Name (C D E..)
Do Re Mi
R M2 M3 ...etc.
Then you only learn triads in C.
C Triad Inversions
X X X 0 1 0 = X X X 5 R M3 = 2nd Inversion
X X X 5 5 3 = X X X R M3 5 = Root Position
X X X 9 8 8 = X X X M3 5 R = 1st Inversion
X X X 12 13 12 = X X X 5 R M3 = 2nd Inversion
Don't even think D or G... (Only one thing fior a long time)
So stay this topic about 2-3 weeks. So that you understand them deeply.
No memorization!
Familiarize them!
Thank you!
