Hey Tomo!
Do you plan on doing a video on How to solo over changes any time soon?
Because that is something I face a bit of problem with. I can solo over songs when they are in one key, but when it starts using chords outside of the key, I face a bit of problem.
Thank you!
Here is Tomo's comment:
"Thanks so much for subscribing to my Guitar Wisdom. Improvisation is not just about scales. It is more about each song’s chord progression. I recommend that you learn more triads and try using only triads on Strings 3 2 1 to follow chord progressions. See if you can play all the songs that you already know. This will help you to learn how to improvise over chord changes."
Thank you so much for sharing! Definitely more lesson videos on that topic.
In order to do that part, first you need to know the fretboard (Theory section, scales on one string approach) and triad inversions (any inversions on 123/234/345/456 set) So please be prepared learning these lesson videos.
Improvisation is not just know "What scales, which scale works?"
More about harmony than single note ideas.
Let's check this. Can you play Bb Blues with only triads (on 123 set strings)?
Can you stay in tempo & chord progression ( 1411 4411 5415)
You can explain about... which videos so far you watched and what exactly a few problems you are facing?
So we can understand what's going on your side?
Thank you so much!
Improvisation is like a great conversation!
We have topic to talk about.
Hello Tomo!
Yes I have learnt all the triads, spread triads and the drop 2 voicings.
I can play the Bb blues and many other chord progressions that you have mentioned just using triads, in tempo. I was wondering what the next step will be from here, and how to apply these while im soling, and how to improvise over more complicated changes.
Thank you so muich!
Thanks so much for sharing! Good job!
Next would be you can mix all whatever tastes you like.... I add a little jazzy phrases around it.
Or from blues to jazz blues? Maybe you can challenge to learn jazz standards, R 3 7 swing groove, triads, 7th chord arpeggios.. then transcribe a few tunes then mix your own ideas over specific jazz standards that you chose.
How about this... can you copy by ears? Can you play them note for note?

For improvisation, you want to transcribe any your favorite solo then you can analyze these notes against those chords!
Thank you.
Tomo
Thank you so much sir!
I was also wondering if you could help me out with one thing.
I've recently been working on trying to do Chordal based improv.
Kind of towards the style as done by Kiko done in this video.
I was wondering if you have any tips on how I could do this.
I already know music theory to a great extent.
Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!
Basically using diatonic triads. Especially Spread Triads.
If you want to do play like this, simply able to copy what exactly this guy is playing. Not to hard to do.
Please watch " Theory " section on scales.
Please watch triad inversions so that you can hear each chords that he plays.
I can cleary hear what chords he plays so I can imitate this so quickly.
Thank you for sharing.
Tomo
Basic idea is 1m 4m 5 chord and use inversions.
