Hi all!
I was wondering what would be the proper way to logically navigate the minor pentatonic around the fretboard,
So for example, in C major
Would you visualize it by thinking that it is a major scale, but played at the 6th (A) degree, so it is 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and through out the navigation, all you would think about is the C Major scale, or would you visualize it by thinking your root note is A and play the Aeolian intervals, so it is 1, 2, b3, 4, 5, b6, b7,
My thinking was, since every mode is just a derivative of the major scale, therefore thinking in terms of the Ionian mode would be key, but now I'm having second thoughts,
thank you
Thank you for sharing.
Say you learn G minor pentatonic scale.
Then,
G = Root
Bb = b3
C = 4th
D = 5th
F = b7
First you can learn G (3rd string)
Then 1st string... then other strings.
Now you now each strings so well.
Now you can combine 2 strings & maybe you can group two notes on each string.
Then you can combine 3 strings ...
From here... you can make small positions or make its a little bigger.
This way, you don't rely on shapes that much.
You can hear each intervals so clear and you can play single string, 2 strings, 3 strings....
No visualization!
Learn intervals!
Focus!
You asked about minor pentatonic so stick to this subject.
When you finished it... then think about other thing.
Major scale or minor scale (b3,b6,b7) or dorian(b3,b7)
You're very welcome!
Thank you.
