I dont even know if im saying the right word, maybe intervals? like if im playing in C major, what chords can I play a maj 7th vs dominant 7th? I get that confused. and maybe what the chords in each key are like minor, major, diminished for major and minor keys. I might be saying all of this wrong.
in C major triads: Cmaj, Dmin, Emin, Fmaj,Gmaj,Amin,Bdim
in C major 7th chords: Cmaj7, Dmin7, Emin7, Fmaj7, G7, Amin7, Bmin7(b5) also called B half-diminished
learn how major scale is harmonized in 3rds to get triad chords and 7th chords
learn it using scale degrees. then you will know it in every key as the relations are always the same
That's about intervals. Please watch theory section. 1) Major Scale / Intervals. Name of notes, C D E... Sing Do Re Mi, Understand R M2 M3 etc... Then go to triads. C E G on 123 set stings. X X X 5 5 3 = X X X R M3 5 ... learn them slowly without memorizing! That's root position. Then E G C on 123 set strings X X X 9 8 8 = X X X M3 5 R .. That's 1st inversion!
G C E on 123 set strings X X X 12 13 12 That's 2nd inversion. That's all you need to know first! Take your time!
