Hi Tomo, I understand chord construction (R-3-5-7 + extensions) pretty well. I can play and identify shapes (inversions) eg. Root, first and second inversion. But Do-mi-So, Mi-So-Do, So-Do-Mi naming is real slow (my solfege sucks). Is it enough to be able to say "Root, first, second inversion" or should I be able to learn solfege naming quickly? When I play triads I don't think of shape name "root, 3rd, 5th", I just play it. And if you stopped me and asked me a shape it would take a moment for me to tell you, but I could. How important then is the rapid naming of the triads with solfege? I want to spend my practice time wisely.
Thanks, Ken
