Dear Fujita Sensei,
Thank you very much for all your work. As usual, you are an inspiration and my north star.
I was wondering if you could point me to any practice routines/ foundational theory that will help me develop my thumb independency (fingerstyle blues)
I'm trying to get the beginning slide down and feel the rhythm, but I feel that it is perhaps too difficult for me right now.
I struggle to continue the shuffle rhythm on my thumb when I start to add the melody.
Currently I'm simply practicing the shuffle rhythm on the open E by itself, and training myself to play the bottom notes on the beat and off the beat. But if I try to combine on/offbeat notes it all gets very confusing rhythmically for my poor beginner brain
What fundamentals would you advise me to revisit so that I can tackle this challenge with less confusion?
Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
Kim
