Hey Tomo!

I’ve been learning guitar self taught for over 10 years, but I’m only now starting to notice some bad habits I have and I’ve been trying to polish them up with the help of your videos, one of these is my pinky, which playing at slow speeds I can control well enough to stay close to the fretboard, but as soon as I play faster it immediately straightens out. I’ve watched your video on thumb position and I’m trying to not apply too much pressure while I play but the pinky still seems to have a life of its own. Is there any exercise that you’d recommend doing to keep the pinky close to the strings?

Yes! Foundation! Please learn how to practice chromatic scale on 4th & 3rd strings.
Learn triads with proper left hand thumb position too.

Yes. Practice simple chromatic scale on 4th & 3rd strings with super slow tempo and try not move away from the fretboard.
