Hello everyone!

What a wonderful resource! I signed up because I am working through volume one of Modern Method…

But seeing all of this great foundational material I am sort of wondering..

Is there a balance of practicing technique, theory, and learning songs? Or would it be more ideal to dedicate all of one’s time and attention to the technique and theory side, sharpening the ax so to speak, and leave learning songs for when one has a more firm foundation? Would learning songs on one’s “level” and slightly above be practice time well spent? Is “Modern Method” sufficient in and of itself to get me to the promised land?

I am speaking from like an advanced beginner/ early intermediate perspective…

Ultimately, I want to play SRV/Hendrix style blues…but even more so, to be versatile and able to play any style with feel and soul…

Any advice on the path of least resistance is greatly appreciated!

In order to improve your guitar playing, definitely I suggest to more building your foundation with a solid techniques, learning fretboard harmony (theory) and basic techniques (alternate picking, lefthand muting techniques etc) then you can learn songs here and there. That's all personal taste, pace.
