Hello,
I love your teaching style and content you put forth. For your FT Root 3rd 7th Swing Groove Technique video, I was wondering about the form for muting. I see your left arm kind of doing a chicken wing thing and was curious about more details on how to effectivley mute with your left hand.
Thanks,
James
Thank you for subscribing Guitar Wisdom! So happy to hear that!
Sure! Great question.
This exercise has a few purpose.
1) Learn R 3 7 / R 7 3 sounds
2) Learn how to use left hand muting technique.
Bb Blues: you use two types of chord forms.
1) Bb7 R b7 M3 .. fingerings: 2 3 4 so you can use 1st finger for muting all 6 strings.
Please watch these lesson videos carefully.
2) Eb7 R M3 b7 .. fingerings: 2 1 3 and you can use left hand thumb for muting 6th string, but lightly.
Your right hand should strum all the strings! So swing, strum wide as you can.
Everything about muting is by your left hand.
This technique is not easy! Because you need to mute with lightest pressure possible.
It will take some time but this technique really can help your chord playing and any other styles: Funk and more!
