Tomo Fujita Guitar Wisdom

Hi everyone!

For a while now I've been learning all the basic triad inversions and finally got them down on all six strings. I know Tomo places a great emphasis on learning them and what they mean well, but I'm not too sure where to go from now. I understand how to turn a major triad into a minor or a diminished one, but haven't really worked at those as I have with the basic major inversions.

What's the next logical step? Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed and confused with navigating the guitar wisdom page. Should I just go straight into the spread-voiced triads section?

What does everyone recommend?

I would do play triads over chord progression and simple play Do Re Mi from each chords and mix a few triads so that you are following each chords!

At the moment I’m really enjoying playing triads with progression 1 5 6 4 for example (on stings 123) G D Emin C. Try playing the progression low on the neck (G 1st, D 2nd, Emin 2nd, C root) then mid and high neck positions. When that’s comfortable mix and match positions up and down the neck. The high note makes a melody and you can improvise little songs. It seriously adds a lot of fun to triad practice.
